The Amazon Associates statement

The Dry Index is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

How the links work

Every product link on this site points at an internal address of the form /go/<retailer> rather than directly at the retailer. That page adds our tracking tag and forwards you to the product. It is a redirect, it takes no information from you beyond the click, and it exists so that changing retailers later is a configuration change rather than a rewrite of every article.

Every earning link is marked rel="sponsored nofollow" in the page source, which is how we tell search engines the link is commercial. Every commercial page carries a disclosure above its first affiliate link, not only in the footer - a footer-only disclosure does not meet the FTC's clear and conspicuous standard.

Who we earn from

Currently, one retailer:

• Amazon - https://www.amazon.com

That is the ordinary state of a site that is days old rather than a limitation on what we recommend. No other affiliate program has been joined, and we do not build tracking links for programs we have not joined - even where one exists publicly and would pay more.

Every buy link is a swappable configuration entry, so if a better program becomes available it is a one-line change with no article rewritten and no recommendation altered.

Links we do not earn from

Manufacturer documentation, government data sources and standards bodies are cited as plain links with no tracking and no commission:

• Midea - Manufacturer documentation only — no program joined.

• ENERGY STAR - US government program. Never an affiliate link.

• US Environmental Protection Agency - US government guidance. Never an affiliate link.
• US Department of Energy - US government standard. Never an affiliate link.

What commission never does

• It never sets the order of a ranking. Where a cheaper product is the better buy, it goes first.
• It never buys a place on a list. We accept no payment for placement, no sponsored positions and no paid inclusion, from anyone.
• It never gets a product excluded from criticism. Every roundup names a unit we would not buy, and every model page carries a stated reason to skip it.
• It never means we accepted a free product. We have not received a free sample, a loaner or a review unit from any manufacturer, because we do not test products at all.

Prices

Prices on this site are fetched from the retailer and refreshed daily. Every price renders with the date it was last verified - currently January 1, 1970.

When a price is older than 48 hours it disappears entirely and the button reads "Check price on Amazon" instead. That is deliberate. A stale price is worse than no price, because a reader who sees a number treats it as a fact.

Prices at the retailer change constantly and may differ from anything shown here. The price you pay is the one at checkout.

We have not tested any of the products on this site. Units we claim to have tested: zero. Every figure here is quoted from a named source or computed from published data with the arithmetic shown.
