Frigidaire's listing states 115 V and 593 W. The ENERGY STAR certified entry for FHDP5033Y1 computes to 490 W. Use 593 W when working out what else can share the circuit, and 490 W when working out what it costs to run.

Two numbers, two jobs

This unit is unusual and useful because it publishes a figure at all. Of 21 current units in our registry, this is the one whose listing prints a wattage. That makes it the right place to explain the distinction that everywhere else stays hidden.

Neither is wrong and neither is the other. A machine rarely sits at its nameplate maximum, which is why using it for running cost overstates the bill by about 20 percent.

Frigidaire's non-pump sibling in the same generation, the FHDD, is listed at 115 V and 545 W - a 48 W difference, which is about what a small condensate pump draws when it is actually running. That consistency is a good sign that the nameplate figures are real rather than rounded marketing.

The suffix mismatch, stated

The retail model is the FHDP5033W1. The ENERGY STAR certified list carries FHDP5033Y1 - same series, different revision suffix. Frigidaire's certified entries in this generation (FHDD5033Y1, FHDD5034Y1, FHDP5033Y1) all compute to 488 to 490 W, so the mapping is safe within a couple of watts.

We are stating it rather than quietly using the number because the whole basis of the wattage figures on this site is that you can check them. A reader who looks up FHDP5033W1 in the certified list and does not find it should know why.

The rest of it

  • Down to 41F. Frigidaire claims low-temperature operation to 41F, which matters in an unheated basement in spring and autumn. Most makers claim nothing about temperature at all.
