AlorAir Helios D35
Sold on 70 pints, certified at 24. That sounds like the usual complaint, except this is the only crawl space unit we track whose exact model string is in the federal file - which means every number on this page describes this machine and not a sibling.

The short answer
Buy it for a crawl space, outbuilding or store room with a drain at or below floor level, where the machine will be left alone for months. It is certified at 24.00 pints a day, IEF 1.95, 274 kWh a year - computing to 243 W - under its own model string rather than a sibling's, it carries ENERGY STAR Most Efficient, it restarts itself after a power cut, and it weighs 25 lb. Skip it if the water has to go uphill, because there is no pump.
Why this page can give you a real number
Almost nothing in the crawl space category publishes a power draw, and almost nothing can be matched to the ENERGY STAR certified file either, because the string on the box and the string in the file are different. The Helios D35 is the exception, and it is the whole reason this unit is worth a page.
| Field | Value |

| Certifying partner | AlorAir Solutions Inc. |
From the ENERGY STAR Certified Dehumidifiers list, retrieved 2026-10-17. The wattage is computed from the certified capacity and IEF using the formula on the methodology page; AlorAir publishes no wattage of its own.
Set that against the sibling it is most often compared with. The Sentinel HD35P Wi-Fi does not appear in the certified file under that string, so its running cost cannot be computed at all - something its own page says plainly. Same brand, same coverage claim, and one of them has a checkable number.
What the 70 on the box is
The listing sells this machine on 70 pints a day, and also prints 35 pints AHAM. Both are real measurements at conditions nobody's crawl space is in.
70 / 35 / 24
The same machine at saturation, at the AHAM condition, and at the DOE test
70 pints is a saturation figure, measured at high heat and high humidity. 35 is the AHAM figure. 24.00 is the current DOE test procedure at 65F and 60% RH - the only one of the three that compares against any other modern listing. What the pint number means.
This is not AlorAir being unusually slippery - it is the category's standard practice, and AlorAir at least prints the AHAM figure alongside the headline, which most do not. The point of saying it here is that if you are comparing this unit against a "50 pint" portable from a different maker, you are comparing 24 certified pints against roughly 49, not 70 against 50.
Efficiency, in context rather than as a badge
ENERGY STAR Most Efficient is a real designation and worth something, but it is not the same as being the most efficient machine available, so here is where it actually sits. In the 19-27 pint certified portable class - 182 models - the Helios D35's IEF of 1.95 ranks 24th, against a class median of 1.76 and a top of 2.05. On annual energy it ranks 38th of 182, in a class spanning 225 to 886 kWh a year.
So: comfortably in the better sixth of its class, not the single best unit in it. For a crawl space that runs most of the year, the gap between 274 kWh and the class median matters more than the gap between 274 and the best 225.
The Helios D35, at its certified draw
(243 W / 1000) x 12 h x $0.1834/kWh = $0.53 per day
0.243
kWh per hour
$16.28
per month, 12 h/day
$32.56
per month, 24 h/day
Rate is the US residential average of 18.34 cents/kWh from the EIA Electric Power Monthly, June 2026. Yours will differ - use the calculator.
A crawl space unit is a 24-hour machine in damp months, so read the right-hand column. The full wattage ledger, and the calculator at your own rate.
What AlorAir actually is, from the certified file
AlorAir certifies under its own corporate name - AlorAir Solutions Inc. - which is better than the heritage-badge arrangement much of this category runs on. The file also shows it certifying three other brands, and that it is selling the same hardware under several of them.
| Badge | Model | Capacity / IEF | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| ALORAIR | Helios D35 | 24.00 pt / 1.95 | This machine. Most Efficient. |
| ALORAIR | Sentinel Pro35X | 21.27 pt / 1.90 | Most Efficient. |
| ARGENDON | Sandidry Pro35C | 21.27 pt / 1.90 | Identical figures to the Sentinel Pro35X. |
| ALORAIR | Sentinel HD55S | 36.33 pt / 2.08 | The larger platform. |
| ABESTORM | Guardian SN55S | 36.33 pt / 2.08 | Identical figures to the Sentinel HD55S. |
| BASEAIRE | AirWerx 55S | 36.33 pt / 2.08 | Also identical. Three badges, one machine. |
From the ENERGY STAR Certified Dehumidifiers list, retrieved 2026-10-17. Matching capacity, IEF and annual energy across differently-badged entries from one certifying partner is the clearest signal the file gives that you are looking at the same hardware. The brand guide.
That is worth knowing before you pay a premium for one badge over another in this corner of the market: Abestorm Guardian SN55S, Baseaire AirWerx 55S and AlorAir Sentinel HD55S are certified at 36.33 pints, IEF 2.08 and 379 kWh a year - the same three numbers each. The Helios D35 is the only entry in the set at its capacity, so for once there is no twin to compare prices against.
The two things it does that matter in a space nobody visits
It restarts itself
Memory restart after a power cut, and auto defrost. Both sound like footnotes until you think about the use case. A crawl space machine is in a space you open twice a year. If a summer thunderstorm drops the power for ninety seconds and the unit stays off, it stays off until October - and the five damp months it was bought for are the five months it did not work. This is the specification that justifies the category existing.
It publishes a noise figure
Below 52 dB, stated by the maker. Almost nothing in this category publishes a noise level at all, so the figure is notable mostly for existing. For a crawl space it is close to irrelevant; for an outbuilding or a store room next to a bedroom wall it is the difference between a decision and a guess. The quiet picks if this is what you are buying on.

The warranty, which is the longest we track
Six years limited, with the first two years full, per AlorAir's claim. Across the units in our registry that is the longest term published, and in a category with no reliability data worth the name the warranty term is very nearly the only durability signal a buyer gets. It is not a measurement of how long the machine lasts - it is a statement about what the maker is prepared to carry. Repair or replace is where that distinction bites.

AlorAir
AlorAir Helios D35 Crawl Space Dehumidifier
Best for: The same crawl space, without paying for the radio

AlorAir's certified 1,000 sq ft unit: same coverage as the Wi-Fi model, a real efficiency figure behind it, a published noise level, and no pump.
Average draw
243 W
Computed from the ENERGY STAR certified entry ALORAIR Helios D35: 24.00 pt/day at IEF 1.95 L/kWh, 274 kWh a year, certified 2 February 2026. This is an exact model-number match - the string on the listing and the string in the certified file are the same - which is the difference between this unit and the Sentinel HD35P, whose figure does not exist.
What is good
- An exact certified model match, so the 243 W and the 274 kWh/yr describe this machine and not a sibling
- Publishes a noise figure - below 52 dB - where almost nothing in this category does
- 25 lb, which is the difference between carrying it into a crawl space and dragging it
- Auto defrost and memory restart after a power cut, which matters in a space nobody checks
- Six-year limited warranty, the longest term we track
What is not
- No pump - gravity drainage only, so the drain has to be below the machine
- No Wi-Fi and no remote monitoring, which is the thing a crawl space most wants
- The 70-pint headline is a saturation figure; the certified DOE rating is 24
- MERV-1 filtration is dust protection for the machine, not air cleaning for you
Who it is for
Someone with a crawl space or small basement, a drain at or below floor level, and no interest in paying for connectivity they will not use.
Skip it if
Skip it if the water has to go uphill, or if the whole point is being told remotely that the machine stopped. Those are the two things this model deliberately does not do.
AlorAir
AlorAir Sentinel HD55 Crawl Space Dehumidifier
Best for: A crawl space you cannot stand up in

The clearest example on this site of why the number on the box is not the number that matters: sold as 113 pints, certified at 36.33.
Average draw
344 W
Computed from the ENERGY STAR certified entry ALORAIR Sentinel HD55S: 36.33 pt/day at IEF 2.08 L/kWh, 379 kWh a year. The retail listing is the HD55; the certified entry carries the S suffix. At IEF 2.08 it is more efficient than the median 50-pint portable while removing about three quarters as much water.
What is good
- Built low and flat to fit between floor joists, which no portable unit does
- Auto defrost and low-temperature operation, both essential in an unheated crawl space
- IEF 2.08 is above the 50-pint class median of 2.01 despite the smaller capacity
- No tank at all, so there is nothing to forget to empty
What is not
- The 113-pint headline is a saturation figure at 95F and 90% RH; the DOE-condition rating is 36.33
- 1,200 sq ft coverage, less than most 50-pint portables claim, for considerably more money
- Needs a drain or a condensate pump - there is no bucket fallback
Who it is for
Crawl spaces, low-clearance basements and unheated storage where a standing portable will not fit or will freeze.
Skip it if
Skip it for a normal basement. A 50-pint portable removes more water at the DOE condition for less money; you are paying for the form factor and the temperature range.
AlorAir
AlorAir Sentinel HD35P Wi-Fi Crawl Space Dehumidifier with Pump
Best for: A crawl space you would rather monitor than crawl into

Sold as 70 pints and honest enough to print the 35 next to it, with a pump that states its reach and a warranty term nothing else here matches.
Average draw
Not published
Not published, and the Sentinel HD35P does not appear by name in the ENERGY STAR certified list. AlorAir's certified entries are the Sentinel HD55S (36.33 pt/day, 344 W), the Helios D35 (243 W) and the Sentinel Pro35X (221 W). A 35-pint AHAM unit plausibly sits in that 221-344 W range, but the listing gives no figure and we are not going to invent the placement.
What is good
- Prints the AHAM figure next to the saturation figure instead of hiding it
- States its pump reach - 19.6 ft - where most pump makers state nothing
- Remote monitoring is the point in a crawl space: you find out it stopped without going under the house
- A 6-year limited warranty, three times the category norm
What is not
- No published wattage and no certified entry, so there is no computed running cost
- Costs roughly twice a 50-pint portable and removes less water per day at the test condition
- Compact means compact - 1,000 sq ft, not a whole basement
- Sold through the brand's own storefront
Who it is for
Someone whose damp problem is under the floor, who wants a pump that commits to a number and an app that tells them the machine is still running.
Skip it if
Skip it if the space is a normal basement you walk into. You would be paying a crawl-space premium and a Wi-Fi premium for less certified capacity than a 50-pint portable.
Who should buy it, and who should not
- Buy it for a crawl space, outbuilding, garage store or spare room with a gravity drain route, where it will be left running unattended and where a computed running cost matters to you.
- Buy it if you are protecting stored contents and want the humidity band held through a power cut rather than until one. Books and paper is the case where that is the whole purchase.
- Buy the HDi65S or HD35P instead if the drain is above the machine, or if the point is being told remotely that the unit has stopped. The Helios does neither.
- Buy a 50-pint portable instead if this is an ordinary damp basement with a floor drain. At 24 certified pints the Helios is the smaller machine, and the basement class removes roughly twice as much for a little over twice the power. The basement picks.
- Buy a desiccant unit instead if the space drops below about 38 to 41F in winter. This is a compressor machine with auto defrost, not a cold-room machine. Where desiccant becomes the answer.
What we did not do
We have not run this machine, measured its draw, tested the memory restart by cutting power to one, or verified the 52 dB claim with a meter. The MERV-1 filter is dust protection for the machine rather than air cleaning for you, and we have not tested that either. Every capacity, efficiency and annual energy figure here is read from the ENERGY STAR certified file under this unit's own model string; every feature, noise and warranty claim is quoted from AlorAir's published listing and attributed as a maker's claim. There is no score on this page because we did not run a test that could produce one. How we work.
